چکیده

The large scale magnetic fields of our Galaxy have been mostly revealed by rotation measures (RM s) of pulsars and extragalactic radio sources. In the disk of our Galaxy, the average field strength over a few kpc scale is about 1.8 µG, while the total field, including the random fields on smaller scales, has a strength of about 5 µG. The local regular field, if it is part of the large scale field of a bisymmetric form, has a pitch angle of about −8 •. There are at least three, and perhaps five, field reversals from the Norma arm to the outer skirt of our Galaxy.

Evolution of magnetic fields in galaxies in the frame of hierarchical structure formation cosmology: future tests with the SKA

Results from simulations of hierarchical structure formation cosmology provide a tool to develop an evolutionary model of regular magnetic fields coupled to galaxy formation and evolution. We use the dynamo theory to derive the timescales of amplification and ordering of magnetic fields in disk and puffy galaxies. Galaxies similar to the Milky Way formed their disks at z≈ 10 and regular fields ...

Magnetic fields in our Galaxy: How much do we know? (II) Halo fields and the global field structure

I review the large scale global magnetic field structure of our Galaxy, using all information available for disk fields, halo fields and magnetic fields near the Galactic center (GC). Most of the knowledge was obtained from the rotation measures (RMs) of pulsars and extragalactic radio sources. In the local disk of our Galaxy, RM and dispersion measure (DM) data of nearby pulsars yield the stre...

Magnetic structure of our Galaxy: A review of observations

The magnetic structure in the Galactic disk, the Galactic center and the Galactic halo can be delineated more clearly than ever before. In the Galactic disk, the magnetic structure has been revealed by starlight polarization within 2 or 3 kpc of the Solar vicinity, by the distribution of the Zeeman splitting of OH masers in two or three nearby spiral arms, and by pulsar dispersion measures and ...

Magnetic Fields Ignorable Magnetic Fields Non Ignorable Magnetic Fields Important Magnetic Fields Dominant

Magnetic fields are considered to be dominant when εB ≥ εK , being εB = B /8π the magnetic energy density and εK = 1/2ρθ 2 the rotation energy density, for a conventional moderate B= 1 μG. They are considered to be negligible when εB < εK for B ∼ 10μG. With no assumption and no theoretical calculation, we show that magnetic fields cannot be ignored in the outer parts of a galaxy like the Milky ...

بررسی شتاب‌دهی ذرات باردار از طریق باز‌اتصالی مغناطیسی در محیط‌های پلاسمایی

Magnetic reconnection, which occurs in high conducting plasmas, changes the topology of magnetic field lines and converts magnetic energy into the kinetic and thermal energy of plasma and also accelerates charged particles. This phenomenon plays an important role in changing the dynamic of laboratory and space plasmas such as fusion tokamaks and sun’s corona. The electric and magnetic fields ge...
